Pastel houses stacked above the harbour, fishing boats calmly bumping against the dock, the bell tower of St. Euphemia keeping watch over it all - Rovinj is Istria's most romantic town, and one best explored slowly. Cobbled alleys climb steeply from the water, laundry lines cross between windows and everything, eventually, points back toward the sea.

The coastline around Rovinj is wooded and calm, with pine-shaded paths leading to rocky coves all along the peninsula - swimming here feels more like a walk in the forest than a day at the beach.
Punta Corrente - part of the Zlatni Rt forest park, a string of shared, rocky bays worth spending the whole afternoon in. Bring good shoes.
Mulini Beach - the closest beach to the old town, just below the church - easy and sociable, perfect for a quick swim between wanders.
Katarina Island - a short boat ride from the harbour, this small island feels like its own quiet world.
Where To Eat
Giannino - a long-standing local favourite, unfussy and generous, with all the character of the old town packed into one dining room. Go hungry.
Konoba Jure - rustic, home-style Istrian cooking that keeps locals coming back year after year.
Maestral - seasonal and right on the water, for when the evening calls for something a bit more refined.
Puntulina - perched on the rocks below the church, with the best sunset view in town. Book ahead and time it for last light.
Ombra - head here for the best gelato in town - small-batch, thoughtful flavours worth the walk and the queue.
